Thriving, Not Surviving: The Mindset Shift That Changes Everything

“To Err is Human.”

No human is perfect, and we should all consistently look at our lives for ways we can improve. As we do, we’ll realize that life is all about problem-solving to reach our full potential.

Life has a way of making us comfortable. We wake up with shelter around us from the elements. We have coffee machines and other gadgets that solve many problems our ancestors faced, making our lives more comfortable. The challenge with this lifestyle is that we often don’t find ourselves using a methodical approach to problem-solving due to our comfort. Like math, speaking a foreign language, or any other skill, we lose it if we don’t use it. Fostering problem-solving skills and keeping them razor-sharp allows us to “improvise, adapt, and overcome” whatever life puts in our path quicker than usual.

So, how do we develop the superpower to handle problems as quickly as they appear? We first foster a mindset of consistent inventory and self-evaluation. We track how our actions affect our outcomes and identify ways to improve continually. We strive to find ways to be more efficient in everything we do.

We can develop this hunger by examining our actions and outcomes more closely under a microscope, increasing our motivation, and allowing us to use the binoculars to see significant changes beyond our current point in life. As we walk this road of consistent self-improvement, we’ll open our minds to more options and adapt faster to said solutions, barely even slowing the pace down on our journey to whatever we are working toward. By following these steps, we can expect fewer moments of starting over, resetting, and reboots, and far more achievements in our lives because we will have developed the confidence to take on any challenge, due to our success rate at adapting to previous issues. These actions will move us closer to contentment and further from complacency. It will elevate us above the average line and propel us toward thriving rather than merely surviving.
